HILLTOP LAKEHOUSE · PORTAGE LAKES
Down the hill.
Out to the water.
Custom-built shoreline steps with posts, nautical rope and lighting connect the hillside to the dock.
Watch the transformationA ROUTE THAT FOLLOWS THE HILLSIDE
From worn timber
to a defined path.
The original timber steps had weathered into the slope. The new route follows the grade, turns with the hillside and meets the dock approach below.
The finishing details carry that route through to the water: posts along the steps, nautical rope between them, and lighting that gives the project a different character after dusk.

THE TRANSFORMATION
Follow the change.
Stay for the lights.
This 15-second edited sequence moves from the original hillside steps through construction to the finished route, ending with the posts illuminated beside the lake.
The evening view is shown in the supplied transformation video; the gallery also includes daylight views of the project.
THE FINISHED CONNECTION
Steps, posts
and nautical rope.
A side view shows how the steps follow the bank beside the house. The posts and rope bring the shoreline character into the approach itself.
Open any project photo to explore the daylight views and illuminated video still.
